Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
Rackd is run by James Gardner ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the Rackd app.
What we collect
- Photos and details you choose to submit. When you tap "Generate listing", the photos you selected and any details you typed (brand, size, condition, notes) are sent to our server and on to our AI provider to write your listing.
- An anonymous app ID. A random identifier created on your device, used to count free listings and to link your subscription. It is not your name, email or Apple ID.
- Purchase status. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. Our subscription partner RevenueCat tells us whether your anonymous ID has an active subscription. We never see your card details.
- Network address (IP). Used briefly to stop abuse. We store only a one-way hashed version with a daily counter that is deleted within about a day.
- Your latest listing, for up to 24 hours. If your connection drops while a listing is being written, we keep that listing linked to your anonymous ID for up to 24 hours so we can send it again without charging you twice. It is then deleted automatically.
- Anonymous item details (you can switch this off). For each listing we keep a record of the item's brand, category, size, condition, colour, material and the price range suggested, plus the date (day only), country and app version. If you use "Mark as sold", we also keep the price it sold for, which app it sold on and how long it took. These records are not linked to your app ID, and they never include your photos, the written title or description, or anything else about you. We use them to make Rackd's price suggestions more accurate, and to publish or share combined statistics about the resale market (for example, average sale prices for a brand). You can switch this off at any time in Rackd → Settings → "Help improve prices".
What we don't do
- We don't keep your photos. They are processed to write your listing and then discarded by our server.
- We don't require an account, and we don't collect your name, email, contacts or location.
- No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
- Anthropic (Claude) — our AI provider, which analyses your photos and writes the listing. Data is sent under Anthropic's commercial API terms. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — manages subscriptions. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — hosts our server. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Apple — handles payments and app distribution.
The app asks for your permission before any photo is sent to the AI provider for the first time.
On your device
Your full listing history (photos, titles and descriptions) is saved only on your device. Deleting the app or clearing your history removes it. The anonymous item records described above aren't linked to you, so they can't be traced back to you or picked out to delete.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access or delete data linked to your anonymous ID. Email privacy@getrackd.co.uk with the ID shown in Rackd → Settings and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Rackd doesn't ask for your age, name or any account details, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children. Selling platforms set their own minimum ages (Vinted, for example, requires users to be 18 or over), so you must meet the age rules of any platform you list on. If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian before using Rackd.
